Hello June...

Kate, Brent and I had an epic hiking adventure yesterday with Larry and George. (Yes, since moving to Raleigh we've befriended a Fred, Larry, and George who are all roughly our age.) On this epic adventure, which appropriately was set in the town of Troy, NC, the five of us set out on a spontaneous 12 mile hike beginning at 4:30 and ending, in the dark, at 9:00. We explored the Uhwarrie National Forest - which is a surprising treat. If you are unfortunate enough to live far away from mountains, this is a good substitute. Of course, a road trip that should have taken us an hour and a half took almost as much time as it takes to get to Asheville and a light afternoon hike turned into 12 miles, so you might not want to take my word for it.

It was a much needed reprieve for me. Today = recover. Tomorrow = bikeride on the greenway, another Raleigh area favorite.

I love SUMMER!
